If you need to talk to probate attorneys for help, you probably have more than a few questions. Like most people who aren’t familiar with the legal system or working with attorneys, there are also many similar questions, such as what to expect, what should you bring, and, of course, how much will it cost? If you need the help of a probate attorney, as the attached video shows, there may be more than a few fee options. The good news is, some of those options may be better, and more affordable, than others.
The bad news is, that some of those billing options may be more expensive and less timely.
Historically and traditionally, attorneys use one of three billing methods for their clients. Typically, they offer hourly rates, a flat rate option, or a percentage scale. In the majority of probate cases, a flat rate fee is often the most affordable and effective option. In addition to the benefit of flat rate fees making it in the attorney’s best interest to process the filing faster, that generally means less time waiting for you, as well. Just remember, rates may vary from state to state, but in the end, a flat rate is, more often than not, the best fee option for probate.
